This 3-hour course describes the application of IEEE Std. 1547-2018 to distributed energy resources (DER) such as solar power systems. The course is primarily focused on explaining the differences in the newest version (2018) to the previous versions of this important Standard. The course is divided into nine brief chapters. Each chapter covers one or more of the clauses in IEEE Std. 1547-2018. These clauses provide a summary of performance requirements, reactive power, and volage/power control, response to abnormal Area EPS conditions, power quality, islanding, DER on distribution secondary, interoperability, and verification procedures.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
