This 4-hour course describes medium voltage transformers. There are over 50 million medium voltage transformers in operation in the United States. These transformers convert utility primary voltages (5 kV to 35 kV) to end use voltages for residential, commercial, and industrial uses.Â
This is volume one of two volumes. Volume I explain the electrical characteristics of transformers, design parameters, and the types of distribution transformers in use today including both overhead and underground transformers. Relevant industry Standards are also addressed. Volume II gives practical guidance on the application of medium voltages transformers, including wiring connections.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
