This 5-hour course describes the technology of high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems and its application to electric power systems. There is growing interest in HVDC transmission systems to help stabilize the electric grids and to enable the movement of remote renewable energy resources, such as offshore wind energy, to electrical load centers.
The course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
