Youth from marginalized communities are often excluded from urban planning processes, limiting their ability to shape spaces that reflect their needs and aspirations. This course explores innovative strategies to engage youth in participatory urban planning, focusing on methods that incorporate their voices into meaningful city development projects. Using the Growing Up Boulder program as a case study, participants will examine tools such as photovoice, digital storytelling, and interactive planning to promote inclusion and foster a sense of belonging.
Participants will gain insights into overcoming barriers to participation, building trust, and integrating diverse perspectives into planning frameworks.
