Mario Zapata is a professional engineer registered in British Columbia, Canada, with 10+ years of experience in the management of surface water in projects in Canada, as well as Brazil, Peru, Turkey, and Mexico. Originally from Colombia, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, he received a master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada. His professional practice has focused extensively on computational modelling for water resources, but has also included conceptual and detailed design of water management structures, and impact assessments on water resources of development projects. His current practice focuses on the management of surface water at steelmaking coal mining operations in southeastern British Columbia.
